Maui Wax

FX Masters is particularly proud of it’s efforts to establish a wax museum of it’s own on the island of Maui. After years of creating figures for the Hollywood Wax Museum, and conducting market research in Maui, we have concluded that there is a definite viability to the concept. For the past two years Paul Barnes has devoted hundreds of hours to developing a comprehensive business plan for not only a wax museum, but also an attached restaurant, coffee shop, gift shop/art gallery, wax and special effects shop, and conference center/party venue. The decors and displays in the wax museum, restaurant, conference center/party venue, and gift shop will be devoted predominantly to Hawaiian history and culture.

The wax museum proper will be non-profit, and more than 50% of it’s displays will depict Hawaiian historical figures in their indigenous settings. The balance will be contemporary and classic movie stars, a recreation of a 1930’s vintage circus sideshow, and a two-part Chamber of Horrors. It is our intention, using the admission fees, to sponsor charitable events at the museum and conference center, to set up a grant foundation, and to establish a scholarship program for aspiring artists on the island. The cottage industries attached to the wax museum will provide support to the facility through catering (restaurant and coffee shop), gift packages (gift shop/art gallery), and a large venue for related parties and charity events (conference center/party venue). The local community has been very supportive of our efforts, and we look forward to helping local causes as much as possible.

Maui’s tourism has been growing rapidly and has surpassed pre-911 levels already. The recent addition of cruise ship docks has been a boon to tourism, as has the increases in the Asian economies. Maui has fervently denied support to efforts to bring amusement parks to the island, but has embraced (as voiced by the mayor) our concept of a culturally based entertainment facility. We have yet to encounter any detractors to our concept, but have gained support from local and international tourist bureaus, local advertising outlets, city hall, cultural societies, and those locals aware of our intentions. Bernard Rozet, a principle in the project and our liaison on Maui, is a native Hawaiian, is well respected in the community, and has an extensive background in the hospitality and marketing fields. He is presently tenaciously investigating our grant opportunities as well as networking with community leaders, historians, and cultural experts. Through his efforts we’ve acquired an informal option to lease 4 acres of property adjacent to the Maui Ocean Center, an aquarium facility voted Hawaii’s top tourist attraction for the past 4 years, who’s average annual attendance is in excess of 400,000.

As progress is made in our endeavors to bring this state of the art facility to Maui, we at FX Masters will use this space to update interested parties. If there are specific questions or inquiries, we can be reached through e-mail at: wax@fxmastersonline.com.
